We know that Jesus is the reason we celebrate Christmas, we know Jesus is the reason for the season, but many of the people who visit your church or are in the neighborhood around it don't have any idea what that means. This communication piece will help.
Though it is done is a casual, upbeat style, the content is actually taken from the Nicene Creed, one of the most widely accepted creeds in the Christian Church and one that defines the identity and role of Jesus as our Savior. Below are pictures of the file. One is in color and one in grey scale. The grey scale looks good printed on some a rustic-looking or colored paper.
The publication is half of an 8 1/2 by 11 and you can use it in many ways:
- It can be the front of a postcard,
- As the front of a flyer or invitation to Christmas activities
- As a cover for a Christmas program
- As a bulletin insert for a service during Christmas
Inside you can say something like this:
You may have heard that Jesus is the Reason for the Season, but why is that? What makes his birth special?
The front of this postcard (flyer, whatever) has an excerpt from one of the early creeds of the Christian church where it reminds us that Jesus was God in human flesh who came to earth for a purpose—to die for the sins of his creation. But he was not a victim and he rose from the grace as our Risen Savior and returning King.
We'd like to invite you to hear more about the life of Jesus and it can mean to you.
Here are the Christmas season events at our church that we'd love to have you attend:
And then list them.
Or there are many ways you can explain the content about Jesus. You can also use it as an opportunity to link to sites about Jesus on the web or that you might want to create special sections on your website that will give people more information.
Best of all you could invite people to seeker studies where they can interact with others and find out more about the tiny baby who will return as our eternal King.
The file below contains the ready-to-print PDF, the editable MS Publisher file, and images of the handouts.

No matter what you use, keep your focus on Jesus this holiday season
Many people today have a distorted view of Jesus. You not only want to remember that He is the reason we celebrate, but do everything you can in your Christmas outreach and teachings to remind people of who the true Biblical Jesus is.
This time of year is a great time of outreach for your church, but make it more than fun and a community celebration, but one where you intentionally introduce people to the real, biblical Jesus.
